Joanne makes miniature 1/12th scale doll house furniture concentrating on the Victorian and Arts and Crafts Eras.
Originally starting with cast off wood scraps from her husband who builds model ships, her passion developed. She then
discovered one inch scale doll house furniture kits and has never looked back.
Joanne has explored every medium and has taken every miniature workshop from Fimo, dolls, wood carving, etc. Joanne then
started teaching herself, finding her niche in upholstery. Joanne has taught several workshops, ranging from delicate
Fimo foods, intricate "wicker" sewing baskets, lily ponds complete with realistic Koi goldfish, as well as her well known
upholstered pieces.
All pieces are hand crafted from patterns Joanne creates herself. Researching styles, she is then able to adapt with accuracy,
"as exact as can be", in scale miniature dollhouse pieces that astound. Joanne can be found in several well known hotel
lobbies, tape measure in hand, creating in scale sketches for future miniature creations.
Her attention to detail is without compromise.
Pieces in the collection can be as diverse as the Knole couch dating back to circa 1760 France, to the fabulous
overstuffed 1920's club chair. Using only the finest materials, including beautiful woods, opulent fabrics and the
softest of kid leather, these pieces are true works of art, and collector's items.
Joanne won ‘Best in Show’ award for her 1/12th scale Sushi Restaurant in 1991. The sushi bar is pictured above.

Joanne has taught courses at the Haliburton School of the Arts as well as many workshops including designing and
teaching the Toronto Met Club’s annual project ‘Japanese Room’ in 2005
